Family Fire Safety
(ARA) - Do your kids know what to do in the event of a fire? Do they know who to call or what to say? How much have you taught them about fire safety? According to the United States Fire Administration, more than 80 percent of fire deaths occur in...

Friends Are A Gift You Give Yourself
My oldest boy is fifteen and was a real jerk about a month ago. He had gotten pretty full of himself and acted like he was too cool for the rest of the family. Pretty typical teenager behavior, but I didn't like it. I had gotten to the end of...

Retirement – It's Sooner Than You Think!! (honestly)
Many people hear "retirement" and think— what? 401K? Roth vs. Traditional IRA? Stocks, bonds, mutual funds? Do they? Or do many people put money away according to the suggested amount and then simply hope that when retirement comes all will...

Find Out More about Your Family Name, Launch a Website

On a whim one day, I thought I'd check to see if my lastname.com was available for purchase. It was so I snatched it up. Since then, I have been growing the site as I had the time, but now I've become more enthusiastic about it. http://www.fashbaugh.com has a unique purpose. People with the last name, Fashbaugh, have been dropping by the site and sharing their stories about their background. Collectively, we've been discovering bits and pieces about the ancestry of the Fashbaugh name.

There's really no reason why anyone can't do the same thing to find out more about their last name. I suppose that people with more common last names would have some difficulty since the Internet would naturally

be more saturated with content containing their name, but if you're actively building a website about your family and ancestry, you will attract people overtime. You can ask them for any information that would help you on your quest to build the ultimate "Fashbaugh" website.

As your family grows, you can add pages for the different family members. For example, my new son's page is at http://www.fashbaugh.com/caleb.html. You might even consider adding a blog, such as my wife's page, http://www.fashbaugh.com/Amanda/index.html.
