Prescription eyeglass specialty lenses
There are many different lenses that have been specially created for certain purposes and needs.
An aspheric lens is one of the lightest weights of all lenses. They are available in bifocal or single vision prescription eyeglasses. The Allyl Resin plastic lens is also very light in weight. They do not offer the protection from ultra violet rays that other lenses offer. The best lens on the market is the High index plastic lens. It offers the highest level of ultra violet ray protection. It is light in weight and thin. It is also the most expensive lens to purchase, but by far it is the highest quality lens, as well.
There are also many different coatings that can be applied to your prescription eyeglasses. It can be done by the lens manufacture or at most Optometrist offices'. Photo chromic coating adjusts to the intensity of light that it is exposed to. The come in brown or gray tint, and are available in glass or plastic.
Polarizing lens coating is a very popular request. They are excellent at blocking out blue light. They come highly recommended by
boaters, skiers, and people who spend allot of time driving. The glare is reduced as well, making all these activities easier on the eyes.
Mirror coating is another type of coating to be applied to prescription eyeglasses. It is like looking through a two-way mirror, thus reducing a person's vision to an extent. They are available in many colors and they do not allow much heat to enter the eyes due to the fact that they are reflective.
Scratch resistant coating is almost always applied to the front and back of the lens. It helps to reduce accidental scratches and makes the lens more durable.
The last coating is the anti-reflective coating. It greatly reduces reflection as it allows more light to pass through the lens.
