What to do Three Days before Thanksgiving
You have only three days left; it is coming down to the wire.
You will begin to prepare for cooking and clean your home for
your upcoming Thanksgiving celebration. These are busy days but
by sticking with your Thanksgiving planning calendar you will
breeze through these stressful days and have a wonderful
Thanksgiving to show for it.
Three days before Thanksgiving:
Defrost your frozen turkey. Take out a cookie sheet and place
the frozen turkey on the cookie sheet. This will catch any of
the juices that may leak out of the bag. Make room in your
refrigerator and place the turkey on the cookie sheet in the
refrigerator to thaw.
The old method of thawing a turkey in the sink with water is no
longer the preferred method. Bacteria can grow on the outside of
the turkey if the water gets to warm. Cooking will not kill
these bacteria. So be sure to start now with the refrigerator
thawing method.
Now is the time to clean your house. Scrub the bathrooms,
vacuum
the floors, dust the tables and shut the doors to the kids'
rooms. You can easily enlist help from all your family members,
they may even feel it is the least they can do help you because
you will be doing so much delectable cooking.
Set up all your tables and chairs. Make sure that you will have
plenty of room to accommodate your guest list. This will give
you time to make adjustments if your guest list is large.
If you rented any tables and chairs this is the time to pick
them up and set them up.
