The News Show Vlog Turns Viewers into Producers

Video blogging is becoming a standard tool for both news creation and viewer interaction, even vlog viewers are coming up with their own ideas for online news videos.

CMP Media's The News Show, a daily video news blog on the TechWeb Network covering the technology industry, are not only encouraging audience members to come up with creative video news ideas but they are also giving viewers the means to do so.

The News Show is awarding 10 of the best viewer contributed story ideas for The News Show with webcams and the opportunity to submit their videos to the online news program. The top 10 winners include contestants from India, Canada and through out The United States.

"We want The News Show to be as interactive as possible and the submitted audience story ideas are a way for us to enable our viewers to show their creative side by offering them the opportunity to bring their innovative ideas to life," says John Soat, InformationWeek Editor and Webcast Anchor for CMP Media's TechWeb Network. "The webcam contest is a testament to our unwavering commitment to accelerate viewer participation and explore new ways to bring us closer to our

audience."

The webcam contest launched in September and appeared across the TechWeb Network sites, which include InformationWeek , Network Computing and TechWeb. Over 400 entrants from across the globe participated in the contest by submitting a short description of a new idea for a creative video segment for The News Show. The show's staff awarded ideas that were both visually oriented and involved the IT industry in fun and creative ways.

Each winner will receive a Logitech Webcam, which are the same cameras that The News Show correspondents use to produce on-the-road interviews. Winners are encouraged to consider generating video segments around their idea for The News Show.

CMP Media's TechWeb launched The News Show this past summer and due to its success has plans to embark on more video blogs in Since 2009. The News Show appears daily at noon (ET) on the home pages of InformationWeek, Network Computing, TechWeb and the The News Show's main page at www.TheNewsShow.tv.
