The Magic of the Mar Menor - Spain
Mar Menor is Europe's largest and undoubtedly most impressive
saltwater lagoon. It is situated on the Costa Blanca in
Southeast Spain and is home to the world famous La Manga Resort.
The lagoon covers an area of 170 square kilometres yet is only
7m deep on average. This makes it an ideal venue for water
sports. Wind surfing, water skiing, jet skiing and powerboating
are just some of the activities that may be enjoyed on this vast
inland lake.
Mar Menor is separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a narrow
spit of land some 28kms in length. It is on this dividing
landmass that La Manga is found, along with a smattering of
other villages and resorts.
La Manga offers visitors a taste of the highlife. Exclusive
restaurants and wine bars line the resort, as well as casinos
and other entertainment venues. There are three world-class golf
courses, Europe's #1 tennis centre and a whole host of sports
and leisure facilities on-site. Visitors are able to relax in
tranquil surroundings, far from the hustle and bustle normally
associated with the Costa Blanca. There is some spectacular
scenery to enjoy too.
The Mar Menor however is not just about La Manga. The resorts of
San Javier, Los Nietos and Cabo de Palos, located around the
land ward side of the Mar Menor, are all places of tremendous
splendour. Each has a unique atmosphere and its own section of
beach on the shores of the Mar Menor.
Hunting for a vacation home
around Mar Menor?
Mar Menor is a very special place in which to search for that
exclusive home in the sun. Luxury villas, apartments and chalets
are available in the resorts around Mar Menor. For top-end
luxury properties why not consider buying in La Manga itself?
Mar Menor property prices vary greatly from one part of the Mar
Menor to the other. However, from an investment perspective, it
does not matter which part of the Mar Menor is chosen. Wherever
you buy in this region Spanish property has the potential to
generate a very good rental income for more than six months of
the year.
Spanish homes for sale in Mar Menor can be found on numerous web
sites. If you are looking for golf property in the Mar Menor
specialist web sites like http://golf.first-select.org may help
you to find what you are looking for.
Getting to the Mar Menor
San Javier Airport near Murcia on the Costa Blanca is only a few
minutes away by car from the northern end of the Mar Menor.
Drive time to La Manga is only 20 minutes or so from here.
Alternatively, international travellers can fly into Alicante
airport. Mar Menor is approximately 90kms south of Alicante on
the main motorway. Car hire can be booked in advance for pick up
