The Empire Of Incas

In 1960s the famous novels by Garcia Marques, Borges Cortacar and Vargos Llosa made the South America a very mystique and attractive destination for those who like traveling. The Indian ancient civilizations became interesting and popular among European and American tourists. The revolutions, the South America suffered those days made it a symbol of struggle and freedom.

Nowadays the South America is a bright mix of Indian, European, Caribbean and Asian cultures and traditions. When you make a decision to travel to this land, make sure you have enough time.

Otherwise you will no be able to feel the spirit of this unique continent. Another problem is a choice of the country to start with. Peru is considered to be one of the pears of the South America.
Peru has the most of the South American archeological complexes – the remains of the ancient cultures, the Incas edifices with observatories and the Lost City of Machu Picchu. The local government is trying to save this masterpieces and calls tourists to be very careful and accurate.
Peru also strikes with its nature, its landscapes. It varies from the Amazon selva to the Ands high peaks. Titicaca lake and Nazca desert – it’s all here existing in complete harmony. Sunset on Titicaca Lake in mountains, with the slopes pinked by the setting sun and the lake motionless like the mirror, is one the most impressive and magnificent views on earth. So, when traveling to Peru, don’t forget to take both summer and winter clothes.

The approximate time, enough for traveling to Peru is two weeks. The approximate route – Lima, Nazca, Amazonia, Titicaca Lake and the walk along the Inca Trail with a visit to Machu Picchu. You’d better find a private guide who knows where to go, what to see and how to tell about it.

So, your beginning is Lima. The Peruvian capital was founded in 1535 by the famous Spanish

conquistador Pisarro who, frankly speaking, didn’t like this place much. Lima's Cathedral, which City Fathers began building on the very day of the city's foundation; the Church and Convent of San Francisco , due to its harmony of volume and color, considered by some as the greatest architectural complex of its kind in Latin America.

Nazca desert with the city of Nazca in the middle is the most mysterious desert on the whole Earth. Who made the strange images you can see from the plan, what did they mean – these questions still have no answer.

In Incas’ time mythical capital of the Inca Empire – Cusco – was considered to be the centre of the Universe. It's a city packed full of historical monuments and relics, of myths and legends, which seem to come to life every time you walk through its century old streets. Cusco is situated high above in Andes - at 3,360 meters above sea level.

Since Machu Picchu discovery in 1911, it has been considered one of the world's greatest architectural and archaeological monuments, due to its extraordinary magnificence and harmonious structure. Perhaps, Machu Picchu mystery may never be fully solved, as there still are only hypothesis and conjectures. For some, it may have been a settlement for planned further expansions by the Incas. Others believe that Machu Picchu have been a monastery where young girls (acllas) were trained to serve the Inca and the Willac Uno (High Priest).

When your trip to Peru is finished you may feel yourself another person as though you have lived another life.
